New Science of Survival Lectures

L. Ron Hubbard's Science of Survival Lectures

L. Ron Hubbard's Science of Survival Lectures

I’ve expounded on it before, but I’ve long felt that Science of Survival is one of the most important books anyone can study, provided they are interested in SURVIVAL.

I’ve read the book several times, and have listened to the accompanying Science of Survival lectures a few more times, and always find them applicable.  However, recently, through all of the work Mr. David Miscavige and Golden Era Productions have been doing to restore previously-inaudible lectures by L. Ron Hubbard, three more lectures were recently unearthed which were a part of the Wichita, Kansas First Annual Conference of Dianetic Auditors which provided the first spoken description of the contents of Science of Survival and the Chart of Human Evaluation.

From that lecture series:

“If you find out where he is on the Tone Scale, you can tell how much responsibility he’s going to manifest, how much persistence he’s going to manifest. You can tell how he’s going to treat children. You can tell how he’s going to talk to you, how he’s going to listen to you. You can tell what he’ll do with a message that you give him to give to somebody else. You can also tell just rather automatically the physiological condition this person is going to be in.” —L. Ron Hubbard

I’m now in the midst of listening to these newly-released lectures, and am currently listening to LRH’s first description of the 8 Dynamics – something that has intense applicability to anyone in life, trying to figure out how life works and why people act strangely.  He speaks of why people have embraced (or enforced) communism, psychoanalysis, marxism, and a host of other practices that have come & gone.  Fascinating so far!

L. Ron Hubbard’s Landmark Book on Efficiency–On Film in 15 Languages

7 02 2011

L. Ron Hubbard said that life is composed of seven-tenths work, one-tenth familial, one-tenth political and one-tenth relaxation.  As such, his acclaimed book, The Problems of Work, is one of the single-most effective pieces of Scientology technology that anyone can pick up and put to immediate use.

Fitting, then, that Golden Era Productions has now completed production of a full, unabridged film version of The Problems of Work – available in 15 languages.

The Problems of Work film, on DVD, is drawn directly from the pages of L. Ron Hubbard’s book of the same title, illustrating basic Scientology principles for use in everyday life. Among these Scientology principles are the triangle of Affinity, Reality and Communication, which are the Components of Understanding; the Anatomy of Confusion; the Anatomy of Control; the Secret of Efficiency; and the underlying mental and spiritual reasons for exhaustion and their remedy. To make this knowledge broadly available, this DVD has further been translated and produced in 15 languages. This 66-minute presentation is also the centerpiece of an introductory Scientology course offered in every Scientology Church and Mission. (Watch an excerpt from the film: The Problems of Work—Anatomy of Control.)

Mr. Hubbard directed that his introductory works of Dianetics and Scientology be produced as films to make his discoveries readily accessible to the general public.

The Problems of Work is the third L. Ron Hubbard book-on-film produced and released in the past 18 months.

  • How to Use Dianetics is a four-and-a-half-hour book-on-film of Mr. Hubbard’s seminal work, Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. Dianetics is the all-time
best-selling book on the human mind and reveals the source of one’s nightmares, unreasonable fears and irrational behavior—the reactive mind. How to Use Dianetics reveals how negative experiences in an individual’s past cause the mind to depart from rational thought and behavior, causing unexplainable anxieties, depression and psychosomatic ills. The Dianetics film further illustrates counseling procedures (called auditing) to locate and overcome these past experiences and eliminate their negative effects. This DVD provides the “how to” of Dianetics, exactly as developed by Mr. Hubbard, and is available in English and 15 translated languages. (Watch an excerpt from How to Use Dianetics.)
  • The Way to Happiness is a two-hour book-on-film of L. Ron Hubbard’s commonsense guide to living. The Way to Happiness book is the world’s most broadly disseminated non-religious moral code. It is also the most translated non-religious book in the world—97 languages to date. In this two-hour film, the book’s 21 precepts are illustrated, unabridged, presenting The Way to Happiness message of core moral values and principles applicable to all ages, races and creeds. This DVD is available in English and 15 translated languages. (Watch an excerpt from The Way to Happiness book-on-film.)

Mr. Hubbard’s books-on-film are part of the ongoing work to make the entire body of his works accessible to all. To date, this has included the restoration and release of more than 2,000 of Mr. Hubbard’s recorded lectures on compact disc, and the publication of eighteen books and more than 1,000 articles accompanying those lectures. In combination, these works comprise the day-to-day record of Mr. Hubbard’s path of discovery in Dianetics and Scientology. The release of these materials, in January 2010, represented the conclusion of a 25-year program to restore and preserve the complete Scripture of Scientology, as authored by the religion’s Founder.

The Church is further engaged in a translation project, comprised of more than a thousand translators, to provide these materials in every language.

With the beginning books of Dianetics and Scientology translated and published in fifty languages, in 2010 the Church and its parishioners completed a two-year project to provide both print and audiobook editions to every public lending library on Earth.

Producing the Materials of Dianetics & Scientology

31 08 2010

Bridge Publications, the publisher of all of L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics & Scientology materials, recently revamped their website – and with it got to show off the absolutely staggering amount of output that their new facility is able to put out.

The full body of Scientology and Dianetics materials comprises thousands of lectures and scores of books, as well as myriad other courses such as the new introductory courses like the Having a Happy Baby Course and others on efficiency, ethics, organization, communication and marriage.  And nearly all of these materials are available in 16 languages, many in as many as 50 languages.

With that, it’s no wonder that Bridge Publications has the world’s largest all-digital print-on-demand facility, able to economically produce both large runs of English books like Dianetics, or small runs of a more specialized item like the Successfully Raising Children course in Norwegian – and at equal cost.

Check out the video they have on their new site which gives a tour of their facility – for someone who’s worked around design & print like I have, you’ll find it staggering:

New Scientology Lectures: Advanced Clinical Course Lectures & Hubbard Professional Course Lectures

7 01 2010

At the New Year 2009/2010 celebration, Mr. David Miscavige has released the final major component of a massive 25-year project to restore all of L. Ron Hubbard’s writings on Dianetics & Scientology to their original quality, to correct all typographical & transcription errors which were barring understanding of the material, and to correctly categorize & delineate all of these materials such that anyone could easily see what they pertain to.

This final, and massive release, was of the Advanced Clinical Course (ACC) and Professional Course lectures by L. Ron Hubbard

As stated by Bridge Publications, the Advanced Clinical Course lectures are, “…the day-by-day record of research and development. They show the application of the breakthroughs of Dianetics and Scientology. The ACCs are best studied as a complete series, however, they form an indispensable body of reference material and, in this wise, can be studied individually to learn the whys and wherefores of every technical subject or process – data never before available and found nowhere else.”

What is Grief?

20 09 2009

An interesting description of ‘grief’ I just came across listening to my Command of Theta lecture called, Creative Processing – Handling Illusions

LRH says:

“Grief runs consistently “I had it, but I don’t have it.”

“Grief.  Grief is saying all the time, “I had it. I had it and now it’s gone.  It’s lost.” – LRH

I just like the simplicity with which things like that are stated in Scientology, as to me that describes the emotion of grief completely.

When People Say “You’re Working Too Hard”

29 08 2009

image Just listened to the 2nd disk of the lecture entitled “Responsiblity” from The Command of Theta lectures by L. Ron Hubbard.  Even more than the first, this lecture had some brilliant quotes on the subject of responsibility, and how responsibility ties to one’s own sanity and ability to attain one’s goals.

I particularly liked the following quote:

“…Oh, the biggest operation that they can pull on you in this society is ‘You’re working too hard.  You should have some relaxation.  You should get out and you should have an avocation.’  You could kill a man this way.”

“And this fellow has been awfully interested in his work and that was his fun.  That was his fun, to paint for twenty-three hours a day.  And as long as people leave him alone, he’ll stay in pretty good shape.”

The lecture goes on to detail how this can turn someone around from where work was fun, to where work is arduous and to where the person just loses all drive toward life.

I also particularly like this, as the topic of “burnout” is so prevalent in the technology field – that someone would get “burned out” on a job that they started out really liking.  What does “burnout” mean anyhow?  Obviously it’s not that someone has no more carbon-oxygen fuel to expend, there’s obviously more to it.

I thought this a great lecture to listen to for anyone who “thinks” they’re being burnt out by life.   As you can find out pretty fast in Scientology, there is really not such a condition as “burnout”.

In any case, give the lecture a listen, if you’re thinking that the above might fit you!

The Wrong Thing to Do is Nothing

12 08 2009

image I’m out and about and on the go right now, tethering on my iPhone, but just finished listening to the LRH lecture entitled The Wrong Thing to Do is Nothing.  I really could write a whole series of blog posts on this, as the lecture is just that profound.  Though it was delivered over 50 yrs ago, the lecture is just as profound and relevant now as it was then.

LRH makes the point in so many different ways that suppressive elements will do just about anything to beat you back into apathy, so that you think that there’s just nothing at all you can do about your surroundings.

He also makes the point that the way this begins, many times, is by taking people and putting them out of communication – by alienating them, and making them feel like they are individuals.  TV can be used as a mechanism for this, as can larger scale covert ops like the destruction of organized religion, convincing people not to go to church and instead take pills to solve their worries, etc.

Got me thinking about how this is being done even today with the Internet – to make it so that people never really get into communication, but instead just stay glued to their computers.  Chat tools even still can give someone the apparency of being in communication, but a post I saw also on Reddit yesterday, convinced me otherwise:

So, the point?  Well, one point is that you need to keep communicating and keep interacting with real people.  Another point, is that there is always, always something you can do about a given situation.  You may not be the overlord of the universe, but you certainly have your own skill, power and influence – and can always do something about it.

Which, in itself, for me embodies the spirit by which I think Scientologists go about things, whether its drug abuse, human rights, or things like dealing with their families.  Something can always be done about it.

It’s a brilliant lecture, and I think so more can be said about it.  You can grab a copy from the Founding Church of Scientology Bookstore here.
